About the Brand!

The story about a girl who loves to light up a room. Owner and head chandler, Alysha Smith is a New Orleans native who launched her candle business in December 2019. See how what started off as a craft project, soon turned into a business idea!

Nearly 4 years before the inception of The ScentSmith, owner Alysha Smith purchased a candle making kit from hobby lobby, in efforts to pick up a new craft. Unfortunately the kit remained untouched for about two years until girls night turned into a craft night. After making candles with friends and concocting different fragrances, the thought that this could turn into something big emerged! From there, extensive research was done and The ScentSmith was created!

Not only is Smith my last name, but Smith is also attached to words to mean craftsman(or woman) I.e blacksmith, locksmith, gunsmith. Hence, The ScentSmith was an easy choice for a name. 

In creating the brand, I wanted to formulate something that would elicit good feelings in every respect. While using luxury fragrances to capture the consumer, I also aimed to keep the products both eco-friendly and people friendly. Thus, nothing used in a ScentSmith candle is toxic or contains harsh chemicals. Ambiance is another aspect that is important when burning a candle. With wooden wicks, the subtle crackle that is produced when burning a ScentSmith candle elicits a comforting feel as the crackle mimics the intimacy of a fireplace or bonfire.
